Paolucci`s, established in 1941, advertises itself as a restaurant exemplifying "what Mulberry Street used to be." When pressed for clarification, the maitre d` explains: "Paolucci`s is a place for spaghetti -- not pasta --, a place where people are still civil to each other." Themenu features such dishes as "Ziti-Siciliano a la Eddie Boy," and the walls are a showcase for photographs of Italian-American actors and baseball players. The food is straight forward, the service leisurely, and the clientele well satisfied -- at least those who don`t insist upon haveing their spaghetti al dente.
Go to Paolucci`s for a place that focuses on an Italian cuisine. Expect the average entrée to cost from $12 to $20, and usually, people dress casual.
